The 2021 edition of Climate Policy Initiative’s Global Landscape of Climate Finance provides the most comprehensive overview of global climate-related primary investment. Total climate finance has steadily increased over the last decade, reaching USD 632 billion in 2019/2020, but flows have slowed in the last few years.
The report measures and analyzes the quantum of climate finance supplied by different investor and intermediary types, the instruments through which they deploy climate finance, and to where this financing is directed (mitigation vs. adaptation activities and geographical destinations). Convergence also provided a stock take of blended climate finance flows since 2015.
