Convergence is working on the Scale Private Investment Mobilization Project - with UN DESA, UN ECA, OECD DAC members, Gates Foundation and others – to identify the best solutions that will mobilize private investment at scale, fully aligned to the upcoming Financing for Development 4 (Ff4D) Outcome Document. The solutions will use MDB and DFI capital optimally and as little ODA/ODA-like money as possible to mobilize private debt and equity investment to significantly higher volumes to fund private sector and public sector projects in emerging markets. This can only be achieved with high alignment with the developing countries' priorities/ownership and debt sustainability.
We believe that we do not have a monopoly on the best solutions to mobilize private investment at scale, nor to simplify and standardize blended finance. In this regard, Convergence invites all those interested to participate in a 60-minute Consultation Session to: i) learn more about and get a status update on the Scale Private Investment Mobilization Project, ii) engage in open discussion and provide feedback on the list of Private Investment Mobilization Models proposed by Convergence; and iii) help inform the creation of an overall Action Plan for more effective, efficient, and fair deployment of catalytic and concessional capital in developing countries for scaled mobilization.
