Convergence and Chemonics are co-hosting an in-person event titled Scaling for Sustainability: Blending Development Finance with Insurance and Pension allocations during London Climate Action Week in London.

Despite growing commitments to climate and sustainable investment, insurance companies and pension funds only allocate limited capital  to emerging and frontier markets. Structural barriers—including risk perception, regulatory constraints, lack of investment-ready pipelines, and limited alignment between development finance structures and institutional mandates—continue to restrict capital mobilisation.  

This event, co-organised by Triple Effect Capital and Convergence, aims to bridge these gaps by facilitating dialogue between development finance actors and institutional asset owners. The discussion will focus on practical mechanisms to scale blended finance structures, improve risk sharing, and design investment pathways for scaling institutional participation in climate finance.
