Financing Nature: Closing the Global Biodiversity Financing Gap

Paulson Institute

This report offers the most comprehensive assessment to date on how much the world currently spends to benefit nature, how much more we need to be spending, and how we can close that nature funding gap now.

Two key challenges are laid out; 1) the broad economic case for protecting nature and the consequences of failing to intervene; and 2) the biodiversity financing gap currently limiting ongoing protection and preservation efforts. Blended finance features as a useful avenue to motivating action in the space, and a promising approach to bridging the needs of conservation efforts with those of private financiers.
