Matt is an innovator and leader with 20 years’ experience of designing and implementing cutting edge climate, biodiversity and land use initiatives, and now leading Terratai, Asia’s first venture builder for nature.

He has spent 20 years designing and leading new strategies to secure the world’s remaining intact tropical forest and biodiversity, primarily focusing on market-based approaches to create positive ‘triple-win’ outcomes at scale - for conservation, for business and for local people.

After many years in the NGO sector, Matt now leads Terratai, Asia's first venture builder for nature, designed to support and co-create businesses that halt and reverse the systemic food systems challenges driving ecosystem and biodiversity loss. This work is firmly grounded in field realities - earned via years of experience of field conservation and community engagement across the world’s remote tropical regions, and extensive experience of supporting international climate policy at the UNFCCC and the UN CBD.

In addition to being a regular panelist at international forums, Matt has also co-authored a number of books and articles on biodiversity and climate finance, landscape approaches and commodity driven deforestation.
